2. Fort Amarillo RV Resort

Fort Amarillo RV Park is located west of Amarillo along historic Route 66. It’s conveniently North of Camping World of Amarillo.

It offers a 10% discount to various groups including Good Sam Club members, military, and AARP.

Pets are allowed and they do offer free Wi-Fi. They also have tennis courts and basketball hoops.

We booked this as a last-minute overnight stop on a cross country road trip. It was perfect for what we needed. The park has very easy access from and back to I-40. Our pull-through site was super easy to get in and out of. The front desk worker was helpful and friendly. We were able to get our laundry caught up in the very clean and reasonably priced laundry room. The gift shop has some beautiful items. We definitely recommend this park.

3. Big Texan RV Ranch

Another excellent Amarillo TX RV park is the Big Texan RV Ranch is located east of Amarillo on I-40. It offers very spacious pull-thru sites with 30-am and 50-am service. (Not all sites have both so call ahead and specify your needs).

They also offer a complimentary shuttle between the RV park and the iconic Big Texan Steak Ranch.

At the Big Texan Ranch you are close to shopping an many excellent attractions inducing Palo Duro Canyon, Panhandle Plains Museum, Caddilac Ranch among others.

4. Amarillo KOA Journey

The Amarillo KOA is located just off historic Route 66 east of Amarillo. This KOA campground has a lot to offer. Not only is it conveniently located to Amarillo about 7 miles, but it is also within reasonable distance to attractions such as the American Quarter Horse Heritage Center and Museum, Palo Alto Canyon, Alibates Flint Quarries, and much more.

The campground itself has a nice Western meal at display that you’ll enjoy. So whether you have a small teardrop camper or a 44-foot motorcoach you will be easily accommodated.

5. Route 66 RV Ranch

If you happen to be driving down west into Amarillo and plan to stay a night or tow consider staying at the Route 66 RV Ranch. They are located along historic Route 66. It’s a quiet park with plenty of amenities including free Wi-Fi, clean restrooms, and even furnished apartments if you prefer a longer stay.

They offer coin-operated laundry and a snack machine and a general store. Camping World is just across the road.

6. Cadillac RV Park and Gift Shop

Cadillac Ranch RV Park is west of Amarillo along I-40. This park is just minutes away from the very cool Cadillac Ranch which a quirky public art installation of half-buried 50’s and 60’s Cadillacs covered with bright graffiti.

There a limited number of RV sites, and only a few are pull-thru. They offer 50 amp service but that too is limited. What makes this RV park nice is the closeness to Cadillac Ranch and the Cadillacs they have on their property. The RV sites are a bit rough so keep that in mind if this is where you want to stay.

7. Panhandle Lodging RV Park

Panhandle Lodging RV Park is located south of Amarillo in Canyon, TX. This RV park is fairly brand new and offers 23 spaces to park your RV or camper. It’s located close to West Texas A&M and Palo Duro Canyon State Park.

One thing to note is the spaces are 70′ long and spaced 50′ apart. 10 of the spaces are pull-thru spaces. They also offer online reservations which is convenient.

Summary

The Texas Panhandle is a great place to visit. There is quite a bit of history and several excellent local attractions. Winter can be a bit brutal due to snow and wind and summers can be very hot so plan accordingly. You are sure to find a comfortable place to stay and local things to do by visiting anyone of the these Amarillo TX RV park.
