What’s there to do in Castroville?

Plenty! You might never even get a chance to explore San Antonio, unless you stay longer! Castroville is a cute Texas town with lots of local activities and attractions. From tubing on the Frio River at Garner State Park to exploring Hill Country wineries, this is one of the best places in Texas for small town charm, good food, adventure, and relaxation.

Plan to spend a few days touring the local shops and historic sites. Get a glimpse into the unique cultural heritage of this Texas gem. It was founded in 1844 by German immigrants who spoke Alsatian (which blends German, Celtic, Yiddish, and French words). This town is packed with historic sites, good eats, and plenty of antique shops. Come celebrate the unique Alsatian culture that’s going strong in the lone star state.

Time your visit just right for Fiorella Friday. This street party has vendors, food and music. It happens the first Friday of every month on Fiorella Street. Or stay in December for an Old Fashioned Christmas, held on Houston Square, the first weekend in December. It’s one of the largest arts and crafts shows in this part of Texas. Over 250 booths feature Christmas crafts, woodwork, handmade jewelry, candles, crocheted items and so much more.
