Any RV Trip to Oregon Should Include Some of These Destinations

Oregon is full of fun and beautiful surprises. From the lush, green Cascade Mountains in the west, to the dry high desert in the east, one RV trip to Oregon feels like a journey to many different lands. Here are some examples of great destinations you cannot miss.

1. Crater Lake National Park

  • Why Go: Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States and arguably one of the most beautiful. The striking blue water and surrounding cliffs offer stunning views and photo opportunities.
  • What to Do: Apart from soaking in the views, you can engage in activities such as hiking, boat tours, and stargazing.
  • RV Accommodations: While Crater Lake National Park itself has limited RV facilities, there are several RV parks and campgrounds in the nearby area.

2. Oregon Coast

  • Why Go: The Oregon Coast offers a breathtaking shoreline that stretches for over 360 miles. From sandy beaches to rugged cliffs, the coast is a visual treat.
  • What to Do: Enjoy beachcombing, kite flying, or just a scenic drive along Highway 101. Visit landmarks like Cannon Beach, Tillamook Cheese Factory, and the Sea Lion Caves.
  • RV Accommodations: There are numerous RV parks along the coast, many with ocean views.

3. Columbia River Gorge

  • Why Go: This spectacular canyon offers amazing views, countless waterfalls, and plenty of hiking trails.
  • What to Do: Visit some of the local vineyards and wineries in the area. The Columbia River Gorge is a unique wine-growing region that offers a variety of delicious wines. Take advantage of the river by going kayaking, canoeing, or even wind-surfing, for which the area is particularly well-known, or take a scenic drive on the Historic Columbia River Highway.
  • RV Accommodations: RV parks and campgrounds are available on both the Oregon and Washington sides of the river.

4. Multnomah Falls

  • Why Go: Multnomah Falls, located in the scenic Columbia River Gorge in Oregon, is a natural spectacle that offers an invigorating escape from city life. As one of the tallest waterfalls in the United States, it cascades majestically over two tiers, falling a total of 620 feet.
  • What to Do: The lush surrounding forest and misty air offer an ethereal setting for hiking and photography. A short, paved trail leads visitors to Benson Bridge, which provides a closer look at the falls and is a great vantage point for pictures. Further hiking will take you to a viewing platform at the top of the falls, where the sweeping vistas are nothing short of breathtaking.
