The Keys are actually a series of 800 tiny Atlantic islands that span almost two hundred miles. It takes over forty bridges along the Overseas Highway to connect these pearls of paradise. Drive your RV down the famous Seven Mile Bridge that connects the Keys to Florida’s mainland. Then get ready for the best bucket list winter getaway you’ve ever had.

Why visit the Keys in your RV?

For starters, the Keys have the most amazing sunsets, plenty of sandy beaches and enough restaurants and attractions to keep you busy for a long time. Take a scenic boat cruise, go fishing, diving, see aquatic life, and ramp up your adrenaline with parasailing or heli-tours. Key West is the southernmost point of the continental US, and will bring you closer to Cuba than Miami. It’s definitely a bucket list RV adventure.

First up on the list is a small, membership-based RV resort with a huge view. Located in Marathon, the Marathon Marina and RV Resort offers oceanfront sites and great RV amenities. The nine RV sites at the pet-friendly campground have everything you need. All come with picnic tables, Wi-Fi, paver pads and full hook-ups with 15/20/30/50 electric. Got a big rig RV? You’ll fit in any of them! You are just a quick walk from the resort-style pool with a spectacular view of the ocean. Chill out at the Lazy Days South on-site restaurant and tiki bar.

For a view of the area most don’t get to see, go parasailing with Z Flights Watersports. Convieniently, it’s located just steps from your RV. Enjoy socializing at the on-site bar, Fish Tails Lounge. Stay in shape at the fitness center and enjoy the on-site laundry facilities, fish cleaning station, c-store, and boat slips.

Key Palms Luxury RV Resort

This is the most centrally located top ranked Florida Keys RV destination. It’s right on Key Largo, just one hour from Miami, two hours from Key West. Bring your dog to the pet-friendly Key Palms Luxury RV Resort and spend winter on the shores of the Florida Bay. Choose from back-up, pull-in, pull-through and water-front sites. Swanky sunny days and gorgeous sunsets, a private beach, heated pool and spa are ready for your enjoyment. Oh, and are you worried about security? This campground is gated and has lots of security cameras to ensure campers are well-protected.

We stayed here for 8 nights and enjoyed the whole time. The sites were well taken care of, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a nice pool to relax at and boat docks if you are bringing a watercraft with you. We stayed in a waterfront spot and the sunsets were amazing! We would stay here again if we were going to be in Key Largo. We camped at Keys Palms Luxury RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Bluewater Key RV Resort

Bluewater Key is a great destination for Key West. This park prides itself on its lush landscaping and the privacy it affords its guests. The ginormous sites average 35 feet wide and 80 feet deep. All feature a Tiki hut and an outdoor seating area, as well as full hook-ups, Wi-Fi and HD Cable. Want more? Several sites also have outdoor kitchens, grills, and entertainment centers to help you feel right at home. As you know, boating is huge fun in the Keys, and this campground makes it easy to get out on the water.

This is the most beautiful park in the keys! One night a week, they have live music and munchies. The sites are beautiful and well-maintained! It is pet friendly.

All of the resort’s Bay-Front sites, as well as most of the Canal sites, have a private boat dock. Guests staying in “Tropical Lots” have access to a community dock that rents boat slips. The resort also has a boat launch perfect for shallow draft boats.

Save time for the long list of activities at the resort. Swim in their freshwater pool (it’s temperature controlled!). Relax in the tropical breezes from the comfort of a hammock or while visiting with other guests in the clubhouse. Get out to make the most of nearby attractions too. Don’t miss the Shipwreck Museum, golf course, Hemingway’s House and the daily Sunset Celebration on Duval Street!

Grassy Key RV Park and Resort

Location, location, location! It doesn’t get any better than Grassy Key. Located between Key Largo and Key West, the Grassy Key RV Park and Resort makes our top ranked Florida Keys RV park list for tons of reasons. For instance, it makes a great home base while you explore all the great things to see and do in the Keys. Second, while the resort can handle motor-coaches of any size, it was designed specifically for big rig RV models. You can pick from waterfront, premium and standard RV sites, all of which have water, electric (30 and 50 amp), sewer and cable included. Stunning sunsets and Gulf views come standard as well.

Grassy is a small RV park, sites are gravel, but level with not a lot of room between them. It has a deep water dock where you can bring your boat if you want. They have washers and dryers but no showers or bathrooms. With a nice small saltwater pool. The maintenance crew are out every day, keeping the place spotless. Bring some bug spray for there are lots of biting no see ums. It’s a little over an hour drive to Key West and Key Largo, worth a day trip to both.

Bring your boat; you can be sailing in the Atlantic’s turquoise waters in a matter of minutes. The pet-friendly resort has surveillance cameras for guests’ safety, and the clubhouse features planned activities and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Relax in their pool or kick back on their white sand beach.

But wait, there’s more! Check out dozens of attractions within a short drive of the campground. From Florida’s most historical sites, to sunny, sandy beaches, golf courses, and even a dolphin research center and turtle hospital. Birders are right at home too with incredible marine birds flocking to this part of the country in winter. End your day at the dozens of restaurants, live entertainment venues and shopping areas near the resort. Of course, no trip to the Keys would be complete without getting out on the water. Boats, jet-skis and kayak rentals are available from many local vendors.

The Jolly Roger RV Resort

The Jolly Roger RV Resort, located in the heart of the Keys, is a great place to call home while discovering all the fun attractions and beautiful scenery of the area. Set on eleven acres, the resort has over 160 large RV sites with full hook-ups, HD cable television and Wi-Fi in all areas of the campground.

This is a laid back park in a quieter part of the Keys. They cater a lot to fishermen so you get to see some cool boats, and the park is maintained well. It can get crowded but space is at a premium here anyway – you are on an island, after all! There are lots of amenities for camping here for an extended vacation stay. The pool is really nice and is kept cool due to the daytime temps. Paved roads are good for bike riding. There is a boat ramp and dock, and the tiki beach has nice chairs for watching the sun go down over the Gulf. Tropical plants and vibe is a nice touch too!

You can spend your days doing fun water sports; go swimming or snorkeling from the dock and along the resort’s seawall, get out on a (sail) boat or go fishing. The resort also has a swimming pool, recreation center, dog park and laundry facilities.

There are plenty of nearby activities to keep you busy as well. In fact, the Dolphin Research Center (where you can swim with dolphins) is right next door to the campground. Marathon Key is also home to the Crane Point Museum, the Turtle Hospital and Aquarium Encounters. A short drive on the Overseas Highway will take you to the Marathon Community Park, the Pigeon Key Foundation and Marine Science Center as well as the Theater of the Sea. In addition, there are numerous beach parks and gold courses in the area.

Sugarloaf Key/Key West KOA Holiday

This campground was demolished by Hurricane Irma, but the Sugarloaf Key/Key West KOA Holiday has built back better than ever. And you’ve got to see what reviewers have to say about it!

Perhaps the nicest KOA park weve visited. Everything is brand new, with a cafe and poolside bar. Nice improved beach with boat and water sport equipment rentals. Sites are close, but level. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Expensive, but comparable to any other place you have to book a year in advance. Its the Florida Keys, so expect high prices in the peak season. W

Sugarloaf Key / Key West KOA Holiday review, @Bobalooey, RV LIFE Campgrounds

This KOA offers pull-through sites as well as back-ins for RV camping. Both come with full hookups with 30/50 amp electric options, cable and Wi-Fi. There are some waterfront sites too. Imagine, an unobstructed daily view of the Key’s legendary sunsets without leaving your camping spot. Oh and you’ also get the amenities you expect from a KOA. A sparkling pool with a poolside pub (with a variety of soft drinks, frozen drinks and cocktails), hot tub, sauna and dog park.

In addition, you can rent banana bikes and regular bikes and boats; snorkeling is an option too.  Of course, you can’t go wrong just relaxing on the private beach. For your convenience, there is a full-service marina and seasonal café; propane and firewood are available onsite for purchase.

You are within a few miles of Key West and all the fun and excitement to be found there. The city bus stops at the campground, making it super convenient to spend the day exploring the area. Once in Key West, you can walk around or take advantage of the hop-on/hop-off trolley service to see all the sights that make Key West an amazing vacation destination.

Thousand Trails / Encore Sunshine Key RV Resort and Marina

Ohio Key (in the lower Keys) is home to Thousand Trails / Encore Sunshine Key RV Resort and Marina, an outstanding resort with top-notch amenities and enough activities (such as the swimming pool and game room) to keep everyone busy without having to leave the campground. With almost four hundred sites (some waterfront) spread over 75 acres, there is plenty of room for guests. There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation as they have a pavilion, a playground and places to play volleyball, basketball, pickleball, tennis, and horseshoes.

It’s so rare to find a lovely sand beach in the Keys, perfect for sitting at water’s edge enjoying the sunsets. We did at Encore Sunshine Key. Guided jet ski tours, snorkeling at the reefs, rental cars and even a bus stop helped us feel we had the entire Keys experience always available. We knew not to expect lush green sites but the amenities, friendly guests and excellent staff added to a wonderful stay. We’ll be back!

Thousand Trails / Encore Sunshine Key RV Resort review, @Priscilla_637, RV LIFE Campgrounds

There are structured activities as well, including co-ed water aerobics and exercise classes, bingo and card games, dances, family activities and outdoor movie nights. For guests’ convenience, there are onsite restrooms, showers and laundry facilities. Dock your boat at the marina or try your hand at some fishing (bait is available at the marina).

Water sports enthusiasts will enjoy Keys Boat Tours, an onsite operator that rents bikes, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. Fishing charters and snorkeling tours can also be booked with the company. There is a beach just a mile down the road, so treat yourself to a little piece of paradise in the Keys.

Boyd’s Key West Campground

Rounding out our list of the best resorts in Key West is Boyd’s Key West Campground. Located near the end of US 1, this epic bucket list destination offers a number of RV site types. Enjoy an Open Waterfront View Back-in sites. You’ll get an amazing view of Boca Chica Basin if you do. Or, choose a Dockside Waterfront View back-in site. These have great views of the marina. Last but equally awesome are the Inland back-in sites. All RV sites can handle Class A, B and C RVs. Travel trailers and fifth wheels are welcome too. Each site has electric, sewer, water and cable hook-ups. Free Wifi is also available.

We loved our stay at Boyds. The campground has a great laid back island vibe. The park has lots of amenities and is just minutes from Key West. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had a dockside site which was great. The sites are pretty tight but I guess that’s typical for Key West.

Boyd’s Key West Campground review, @CMPusateri, RV LIFE Campgrounds

Beautiful landscaping greets guests at every turn; you can picnic under the palm trees. The campground has a dedicated concierge desk, and you can rent golf carts, bicycles and kayaks on-site. Forget some necessities? The general store has you covered. Cast out a line from the fishing dock, or just cool off in the swimming pool. Enjoy the fresh saltwater air on the walking/biking trails, and relax. Life is good here.
